Excerpts from Mike's Letter Home:

09/30/2002

Dear Parents,

Thanks you for sending me the box and also for the highlighters.  First off, let me answer some of your questions:

I barely manage to survive with one pillow, but I do.

Dan wrote me and let me know that he was affected by the CO (Carbon Monoxide) incident at the MTC. Also, he told me that the building I stayed in was one of those evacuated. He also let me know that "sleeping in" was defined as 9 a.m.

Yes, I have had one haircut since I left home. Elder Beveridge cut it for me (he works in the Bartlesville 2nd ward.)

I am trying to switch my shoes everyday like Brother Hoppie said, but sometimes you just forget which ones you wore. I do polish them, but not as often as I should.

You asked how we find all these service projects. It's really simple, we ask people while we are tracting...and we visit inactive families. Grass grows quickly here.

The "Sorry we're closed sign" in the picture of the church is for the family history center. I just thought it looked funny .. especially since the picture was taken on Sunday.

The work is going well. We committed 2 people to baptism on Sunday, but we will see if they survive the tithing / Word of Wisdom discussions. We also have another lady who has a testimony of the Book of Mormon. We hope that she will commit soon. We have had a pretty successful week and it is obvious that the Lord is blessing us since we have increased our member work.

Now for a little news. I only have to teach 8 more second discussions and I will be certified at level 1 (of 3). I stood on a scale the other day and I have lost 22 pounds.

I hope you are all doing well. Tell grandma thank you for the card. Some more info will come in the next letter.

Love,
Elder Mike Robinson
