Excerpts from Mike's Letter Home:

Dear Parents,

I hope you are all doing well. This week has been pretty interesting... I have a few small things to tell you about. Elder Marshall forgot his mother's birthday (Oct. 18th). He went out and spent $3 on a card. Amazing considering he only had $4 left for the month. Also, we calculated the 10 days that it is late only amounts to 2.3 seconds on Kolob. You know, we have to keep the eternal perspective here!

Also exciting was that this week I got to do my first driving on my mission. However, it is not as exciting as it sounds considering that I drove a riding lawn mower. It was fun and made the arduous task of mowing the lawn not as bad as usual. We spent 5 hours fixing up the front yard of an investigator in Pawhuska. We did this in the rain without their knowledge. It was quite a little bit of work.

Another interesting event was that our toilet kept running. I told Elder Marshall that I had quite a little bit of experience with them (thank you dad.) So I looked inside and quickly devised a plan to fix it. I fixed it!

This week was pretty good. We had a few great first discussions. I probably won't get more than a discussion or two with these people. I am interested to see where I end up after this transfer. Tell grandma thank you so much for the recent cards and letters. I will try to write her within a week or two, but I have quite a few people I need to write.

Tell Ken Hoagland "way to go" with the ward missionary calling. It is interesting to think that we did Scouts together... and now missionary work.

The extra hour of sleep this week was extremely nice. Even though I woke up at the usual time. I sat in bed for that extra hour enjoying it.

Anyways, I wish you all the best and send you my love.

P.S. Let grandma know that Frank Sinatra Jr. was in Bartlesville this past week.
